It was 1980. We flew out of a wintry Baltimore, MD, to a beautiful island in the Caribbean known as Martinique. When we arrived at Pointe du Bout, we discovered that it helped to know French and to drive a stickshift automobile. Fortunately, we met a delightful young honeymoon couple (see our friends below, whose names unfortunately I do not recall) who did both and we joined forces in order to see a great deal of the magnificent island, including the town of St. Pierre, which had been destroyed by the nearby volcano, Mt. Pelée, in 1902. These images are some of my photo highlights of that trip. To see the full photo, click on the thumbnail.
